Dengue virus is a single stranded enveloped RNA virus belonging to the genus flavivirus in the family Flaviviridae and transmitted through the bites of Aedes mosquitoes (Gould EA et al, 2008). There are five serotypes of the virus distinguished on the basis of antigenicity; first four are referred to as DENV-1, DENV-2, DENV-3 and DENV-4 (Rodenhuis Zybert et al, 2010) while the fifth type was announced in 2013 (Normile D et al, 2013).
